  • Next elections: elections to the European Parliament 2014. The regular electoral period for holding the elections is 5–8 June. In Finland, the election day would be Sunday 8 June 2014, and the advance voting would be arranged in Finland between 28 May and 3 June 2014 and abroad between 28 and 31 May 2014. As 8 June coincides with Whit Sunday in most Member States (including Finland), the electoral period is considered to be moved to May. According to the EU Act concerning the elections, the Council can determine another electoral period which shall not be more than two months before or one month after the regular electoral period. The Council has to determine the new period at least one year before the elections, i.e. during this spring.
