Voters’ place of residence will determine their electoral district and polling station in parliamentary elections. The voting register for the parliamentary elections to be held in April will be compiled based on the information contained in the Population Information System on 10 February 2023.

The voter’s place of residence determines the electoral district in which the voter is entitled to vote and their election day polling station. Each electoral district has its own candidates, and voters can only vote for the candidates standing for election in their district. On election day, 2 April 2023, voters may only vote at the polling station mentioned in the notice of right to vote sent to them, whereas during the advance voting period, voters may freely choose any polling station.

If an eligible voter moves after 10 February, the electoral district and the election day polling station are determined based on their previous place of residence.

Notices of right to vote will be sent by post or via Suomi.fi service

A notice of right to vote (polling card) will be sent to all eligible voters in February. The notice will be sent in electronic format to those eligible voters who have activated the Suomi.fi Messages service and given their consent for all official messages to be sent to them electronically.

About one in five eligible voters will receive an electronic notice of right to vote in parliamentary elections.
