COVID-19 pandemic and Parliamentary Elections

The 2023 parliamentary elections are the third elections to be conducted in Finland during the COVID-19 pandemic. If the epidemiological situation so requires, special arrangements will be made so that the parliamentary elections can be conducted safely. The Ministry of Justice and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare will work in close cooperation before the elections. According to the assessment of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, voting is a low-risk activity.

In the 2022 county elections and in the 2021 municipal elections, a variety of special arrangements were made at the polling stations to ensure safe voting despite the COVID-19 situation. If the situation so requires, the Ministry of Justice and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare will issue separate instructions on the safe conduct of elections.

Up-to-date information on the COVID-19 situation is available on the website of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare.
